UCLA Staff Highlight

Jacqueline Espinoza, UCLA Alumni '14

Jacqueline has been with the University since she graduated. As an undergraduate, she worked with Associated Students UCLA's Catering team and continued to work there after completing her degree. Currently, her new administrative role with Government and Community Relations offers an opportunity to empower others by providing civic engagement tools and opportunities. In addition, Jacqueline serves on the UCLA Latino Staff & Faculty Association's executive board.

"UCLA offers an abundance of opportunities for staff to engage with, grow, give back, and network," says Jacqueline. "The community aspect of student groups retained me as a student, and now understand its value as a staff member."

Be Alert Bruins 2018: Share the Road

UCLA Transportation is launching its 9th Annual Be Alert Bruins driver safety campaign this month. This year's campaign focuses on Sharing the Road with others while driving on the UCLA campus and in the surrounding area.

More than 75,000 people utilizing a variety of modes travel on campus each weekday. According to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, a pedestrian in California is killed or injured by a motorist once every hour. The good news is UCLA is a safe campus and these sort of accidents are rare. However, when they occur, they can be dangerous and costly.

Take our Share the Road safety quiz to learn more about how commuters and drivers can avoid these types of accidents. Participants will be automatically entered to win one of four emergency kits ($49.95 value). http://beagreencommuter.com/be-alert-bruins-2018-share-the-road/
