HCI Annual Celebration: UCLA LIVEWELL! #SleepRevolution

The UCLA Healthy Campus Initiative envisioned and supported by Jane and Terry Semel is thriving and incubating ideas that support healthy choice as the easy choice in areas of food, physical activity, mindful wellness, the physical environment, and a tobacco free campus. Healthy sleep is a crucial intersecting Healthy Campus Initiative theme.

Learn-at-Lunch: Crisis Management

Learn-at-Lunch Lecture on Crisis Management with Marty Cooper presented by UCLA Staff Assembly & sponsored by UCLA Extension & UCLA Recreation

Event Description:
Are you and your staff ready to handle the next major crisis or event on the UCLA campus? Do you have a reputation management program in place? Have you conducted a crisis audit? Do you have your crisis management plans in place and do you rehearse them annually?

UCLA Extension Distinguished Instructor Award recipient and an LA public relations industry legend, Marty Cooper is going to provide a lecture on crisis management. Cooper will discuss how to create and implement your own crisis management plans at your office (and your life). He will touch on the UCLA water main break and other topical issues and engage in a brief Q&A aimed to help you understand the value of a solid crisis management plan. This Learn-at-Lunch (L@L) lecture with Cooper will be 50-minutes long followed by 10 minutes of Q&A.

About the Speaker:
Marty Cooper is an acknowledged expert and practitioner in the areas of crisis management and communications; the media has been interviewing him on crisis related topics for the past 30 years. He is a professor of crisis management in numerous cities around the world and was honored as a UCLA Extension Distinguished Instructor in 2010. Cooper has written notable, widely read books such as Coping With Crisis in a Complex World and Crisis Management Handbook, and his firm represents a wide range of clients, including City of Santa Barbara, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Los Angeles Times, and Warner Bros. Television.

The jane b semel Healthy Campus Initiative Appreciation & Recognition Award recognizes and acknowledges members of the UCLA community for significant contributions related to individual, departmental, divisional goals and objectives that support the principles of the Healthy Campus Initiative in promoting health and wellness at UCLA.

Plan Eligibility & Criteria

All staff, faculty and students are eligible for the jane b semel HCI Appreciation & Recognition Award at UCLA.

Individuals may be nominated for initiating and/or implementing programs/projects that demonstrate the HCI’s guiding principles and support the goal of making the healthy choice the easy choice at UCLA in one or more of our major thematic areas: MindWell, BEWell, EatWell, MoveWell and BreatheWell (please see website for details: www.healthy.ucla.edu).
Nomination Process

Nomination for the jane b semel Healthy Campus Initiative Appreciation & Recognition Award can be made by submitting a letter (up to one page) describing why you or the person you are nominating deserves to receive the recognition. Please include specific examples as well as the name and email of the nominee, department, supervisor’s name and email. Multiple signatures for the same individual will be viewed favorably in the selection process.

Send nomination letters to Louise Ino at lino@conet.ucla.edu no later than April 1, 2016. Recognitions are non-monetary and will be presented at the HCI Annual Celebration Event on April 20, 2016.
