Message from UCLA Staff Assembly President

I recently attended a conference session where a colleague from another university shared a quote by UCLA’s Arthur Ashe - “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” We are all taking different approaches to our work and navigating frequent changes and uncertainty. I hope that this quote brings support, validation, and motivation to keep going and keep innovating. This year is going to look and feel different, but our Executive Board is committed to bringing UCLA Staff virtual programs and events that will be engaging, fun, educational, and worthwhile. We are starting this year from where we are; looking and thinking outside the box to do what we can with what we have.

That said, I encourage all staff to reach out to us on social media @uclasa or by email to Let us know how we can best support and connect with you! I hope that Staff Assembly can continue to provide space for UCLA Staff to feel welcome and valued as we are “for staff, by staff.”

- Jessica Alexander, President
UCLA Staff Assembly
