UC Retirement Benefits: Give Your Feedback!

As a result of last year’s 2015 budget agreement with state leaders, the University of California (UC) is developing new retirement benefits for future UC employees (those hired on or after July 1, 2016). A task force, established by UC President Napolitano, has recommended retirement benefit options that are proposed for review and anticipated for presentation to the UC Board of Regents in March 2016. Full report and recommendations are available at: http://ucal.us/2016retirement.

The UCRS Advisory Board will hold a conference call to discuss the
President's proposal TODAY from 2:00-3:00. Public comments are solicited in
the first 15 minutes
. The call-in number is 1.866.740.1260 and the passcode
9870598.

Become a Pen Pal to a Project SPELL Learner

Project SPELL is a UCLA Volunteer Center program that matches employee learners with student volunteer tutors to accomplish the learner’s English language learning goals. Pen pals communicate weekly via email, allowing the learner to work on writing and computer literacy skills. Sign up for a quarterly pen pal role, and take advantage of end-of-quarter reunions to meet your pen pal in person! For other upcoming volunteer opportunities, visit the Volunteer Center website.

2016 BruinTech-a-Thon

The 2015-16 BruinTech Board is proud to announce the 2016 BruinTech-a-thon, a mini conference where we invite tech enthusiasts from across the campus to come give 20-60 minute presentations on the work they are doing in their departments. Presentations can be in the form of slideshows, demonstrations, panel discussions or mini-workshops -- feel free to get creative and collaborate with your peers!

The BruinTech-a-thon provides an opportunity for techies to share their knowledge, practice presentation skills and learn about possible collaborations with other units on campus. The presentations can inspire conversations and stimulate the creative thinking that helps us all create and support the IT environment with which we are entrusted.

The 2016 BruinTech-a-thon will take place on April 27, 2016. We encourage all Bruin Technologists to submit a presentation proposal to share your expertise, ideas or lessons learned. To learn more about the previous BruinTech-a-thon, please see this page.

To submit a proposal, please complete our online submission form. Joint presentations with colleagues are also welcome. The deadline to submit a presentation is 5pm on Friday, April 1st. Presenters will be notified by the end of the day on Friday, April 8th if their proposal has been selected.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact BruinTech at bruintech@ucla.edu.
