Be a part of UCLA Bruin Day
for admitted freshmen!

Special Events & Protocol is looking for staff members interested in volunteering at UCLA Bruin Day on Saturday, April 15, 2017. We anticipate approximately 15,000 admitted freshmen students and their guests will visit the campus, and your help is vital to making the day a success.

UCLA Bruin Day gives admitted students the chance to tour the campus, hear from professors, meet current students and experience what life is like as a Bruin. Our goal is to pack all UCLA has to offer into one spirited and unforgettable day.

We’re looking for friendly faces to help greet guests, direct them around campus, and help us showcase all UCLA has to offer. If you would like more information or to sign-up to volunteer, please visit the link: Volunteer for Bruin Day 2017 before the Wednesday, April 5, 2017 deadline.

We look forward to your help in welcoming admitted students to our Bruin family!

Creating Spaces Project

On behalf of the Mothers of Color in Academia de UCLA (MOCA), Reproductive Health Interest Group (RHIG), and Healthy Campus Initiative (HCI), we invite you to participate in the pre-test of the Creating Space needs assessment evaluating the experience of lactating mothers on the UCLA campus.

Creating Space is a project focused on improving the lactation accommodations, education, and support on UCLA campus for working and student mothers. However, no data currently exists on lactating individuals at UCLA. We do not have information about how many campus staff employees need lactation facilities, where they need facilities, and what their experiences have been thus far. Thus, Creating Space is seeking to conduct a needs assessment including a survey and focus-group discussion to capture the depth and breadth of lactation experience at UCLA.

The in-person pre-test will take place with three options. Please review the options and then RSVP to UCLACreatingSpace@gmail.com on the option(s) that works best for you! If participants are interested in testing both the focus group discussion guide and the survey they should visit one in-person session and the online survey.

  • Option 1: Wednesday, March 8th, 5-8 pm @ The University Village Community Center 3200 Sawtelle Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90066: An untimed informal assessment where participants will be cognitively interviewed while answering questions to assess understanding, clarity, and acceptability of questions. The focus of this test will be reviewing the focus group discussion guide. Participants can stop by anytime within the designated timeframe that works within their schedule. Refreshments will be served. Children welcome. Any questions contact Christine at (818) 493-8567.
  • Option 2: Friday, March 10th, 12-1 pm @ Students Activity Center (SAC) Conference Room #5: An untimed informal assessment where participants will be cognitively interviewed while answering questions to assess understanding, clarity, and acceptability of questions. The focus of this test will be reviewing the focus group discussion guide. Participants will need to be present at least 45 minutes of the hour. Refreshments will be served. Children welcome. Any questions contact Jasmine at (425) 985-0772.
  • Option 3: Online Assessment through Survey Monkey: A untimed pretest delivered through Survey Monkey where respondents can take the survey and offer comments as they go. After the survey participants, will fill out a one-page evaluation of the survey on the time it took to complete, if any terms were confusing, etc. Any questions, contact Jasmine or Christine.
If you are able to participate, please RSVP by emailing UCLACreatingSpace@gmail.com with your available and/or preferred time for pre-testing ASAP. If you have no preference, please indicate so we may assign you where most needed. If you are unable to partake but would like to refer this opportunity to an appropriate acquaintance, please do so or contact us.
