UCLA Staff Assembly stands with Black Bruins: staff, faculty, students, alumni and everyone who has ever called UCLA “home”.
“For Staff, By Staff”, UCLA Staff Assembly believes we have a responsibility to ensure that our Black Bruins feel supported and that their voices are lifted up during this very painful and tumultuous time. We believe in equity, equality, diversity and inclusion. We believe in dismantling systems that perpetuate racism and inequities.
We believe, unequivocally, that Black Lives Matter.
And so, UCLA Staff Assembly issues a call to action: Donate to an organization supporting the African American community now. Some suggestions include, but not limited to: NAACP, Black Lives Matter, or the Minnesota Freedom Fund. For those who cannot contribute monetarily, there are other ways for you to participate in this call. Choose to listen. Choose to speak up. Choose to be present. Choose to stand up for what is right.
To show support for - and solidarity with - our Black Bruin community, UCLA Staff Assembly pledges to match all UCLA staff donations to any organization doing the work of antiracism (in any amount and up to $1000). Proceeds from the Staff Assembly match will benefit the UCLA Black Alumni Association. The UBAA is a group founded to empower UCLA African American alumni, students, faculty and the community at-large to form powerful associations through advocacy and mobilization that will create greater educational opportunities and resources for the African American community. Additionally, every one of our current Board of Directors is committed to this movement and will take action by making donations.
To participate in the match, fill out this form to let us know your donation amount. Our matching gift will be made once the match has been met. We will share this commitment via our social media channels when completed.
We are also working on a web page of resources to keep this movement front and center. If there are any resources you would like us to share, email us or tag us on social media @uclasa.
Join UCLA Staff Assembly and let us stand together because #BlackLivesMatter.
